Autonomous University of Entre Rios (Argentina)

Autonomous University of Entre Ríos. Provincial institution of Argentina. It was founded by Provincial Law No. 9250 of June 8, 2000.

Historical review

The creation of the Autonomous University of Entre Ríos (UADER) in the year 2000, arose as a response to the challenges that challenge the social, economic, political and cultural life of the Entre Ríos community. The need to find new horizons for various problems, mobilized the will of the Provincial State and the Municipal States, and of some civil society organizations linked to production and education, to build and project an institutional space with democratic support to implement new educational policies.

By means of the Law of Creation of the UADER Nº9250 – sanctioned on June 8, 2000 – the transfer of more than twenty Higher Institutes, Higher Education Institutes, Middle and Higher Level Schools, Higher Schools, Higher Colleges and other institutions, to conform the Academic Structure of the nascent University, initially with 5 Faculties and that since 2004 comprises 4. In 2001 the Provisional Academic Statute was approved, from which a structure of its own for general operation has been consolidated.

Constitution of the Advisory Bodies

As of 2002, advisory bodies were set up to advance in the normalization process (Advisory Councils in the Faculties and the Provisional Superior Council), with limits on their powers but with the spirit of legalizing their operation and making room for a broad debate of their own. of democratic doing in the university environment. This stage of the University was marked by difficulties typical of the context of social and economic crisis, both provincial and national.

National validity of titles

Until 2007, emphasis was placed on achieving the national validity of degrees, strengthening the dictation of careers, continuing with the reconversion of teachers and generating other proposals in line with social demands. In addition, the investigation was able to start systematically after the pertinent regulations were approved. And punctually in the middle of 2007, a critical period was passed around the implementation of a regulation for ordinary competitions for professors, leading some sectors of the university community to take over the Rector’s office as a sign of protest. This conflict could be overcome with the intervention of the Secretary of University Policies of the Nation.

Starting in 2008, with the beginning of a new administration, emphasis was placed on the political will to move forward in the concretion of calls for ordinary competitions, to definitively put aside the degree of conflict experienced and seek new achievements in pursuit of the institutional standardization. In this sense, goals linked to consolidating the identity of the University, responsibly guaranteeing the quality of education and revaluing teacher training were added; and fully integrating into the Argentine university system based on the active participation of the faculty in calls, projects, networks and other national spheres.

in 2012

During 2012, in a new scenario of conflict that manifested itself with another takeover of the Rectorate and different expressions of protest by student and teacher sectors, however, progress was made with the support of the Provincial Government in an electoral schedule that would allow the completion of the normalization process.. For this, it was essential to substantiate the pending ordinary competitions and initiate the process of institutional self-assessment, in addition to sustaining the main academic, research and extension actions. Thus, on December 21In 2012, the first University Assembly was held, the reason for which was the election of the Rector and Vice-Rector through the vote of the Deans and the representatives of the cloisters, who had previously been elected. That milestone marked the beginning of a new institutional stage, which is currently in progress, where dialogue and constant work to overcome difficulties are the central premises.
