Lactic Acid

Lactic Acid in Dictionary

The lactic acid is a chemical compound that is part of the group of carboxylic acids. It is called a chemical compound because it consists of at least two elements that are part of the periodic table. The carboxylic acids, on the other hand, are those that have a functional group called carboxy group or carboxyl group, where a carbonyl and a hydroxyl group on the same carbon coincide.

In the dictionary of Digopaul, lactic acid has, on carbon, a carboxyl group together with a hydroxyl group. If it is part of a solution, the lactic acid can suffer the loss of the hydrogen that is bound to the carboxyl group, thus transforming itself into the lactate anion.

It is possible to obtain lactic acid by pyruvic acid, from an enzyme that appears during fermentation. The ionized form of lactic acid (the aforementioned lactate) is produced by the body through metabolic activity. When a human being engages in intense physical activity, the metabolism causes lactate to be released into the muscles.

The concentration of lactic acid in the body, however, only increases when the production manages to overcome the elimination of the substance. This usually occurs when the tissues demand more energy from the availability of oxygen in the blood stream. It should be noted that when lactate is oxidized by the activity of the heart and liver, it is converted back to pyruvic acid.

It is important to keep in mind that when doing a high intensity exercise or sport it can happen that the person in question generates too much lactic acid. This can happen because your body, due to different circumstances such as not being completely fit, is not prepared to eliminate the aforementioned acid and what it does instead is accumulate it.

What this situation is going to bring with it are two very clear situations: the aforementioned individual will feel lacking in energy and, in addition, he will feel very fatigued. Hence, it should be borne in mind that in order to avoid having to endure that trance again, you will have to stop at that moment and then, during the day, establish a daily exercise routine. And it is considered that only training and training is how the body is able to eliminate adequately lactic acid.

In addition to that, it is considered appropriate to carry out a diet that can keep the acid in check. Specifically, this diet must be based on the following pillars:
-It must have fruit and vegetables as the main protagonists.
-It is necessary to include foods rich in magnesium such as legumes, spinach or almonds.
-Olive oil must be the one used at all times.
-It is essential that during the exercise, the person in question drinks water alone or with lemon juice.

It is important to note that lactic acid is used for different purposes. It can be used to regulate the acidity of a food, as a cosmetic, for tannery or to produce biopolymers, for example.
